‘Solskjaer advised me not to do too many runs’ – Fernandes says he ‘can’t manage’ encourages Man Utd to get ahead

The Portuguese maintains that in the final third of the pitch he is motivated by instinct, and that his main objective is to help the team
Manchester United talisman Bruno Fernandes has revealed that he’s been told by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer not to make so many runs during matches, but he says his urge to move forward “can’t control.”

Fernandes helped United last season to finish in third-place Premer League, having made a €55 million (£49m/$65 m) move from Sporting CP to Old Trafford on January 30.

The 25-year-old has contributed 12 goals and eight assists in all competitions to the cause of the Red Devils, as Solskjaer ‘s team have also reached both the FA Cup and Europa League semi-finals.

Fernandes has brought a much-needed energy into a side that was previously low on creativity, while also taking leadership roles and helping to lift his new team-mates’ success levels.

Despite his brilliance in possession, the Portuguese has proved to be quite the workhorse off the pitch, and is often seen charging into the penalty area when the opportunity to open up the defense of the opposition presents itself.

Solskjaer has advised Fernandes to slightly balance his excitement to conserve resources, but the ex-Sporting starlet says his “instinct” will take over as he steps out onto the pitch.

Fernandes told the official website of United: “I’m always talking to the manager and he tells me a couple of times ‘often you do too many runs and some runs aren’t for you – you need to yell somebody else to run, because after you’re exhausted and when you take the ball you’re not going to be new.’

“But that’s instinct, it’s part of my job. That I can’t control. I am like that and every time I want to support the squad.

“You don’t believe in the game, you ‘re just playing. So that’s enough for me.

“I think the most important thing is to support the team and that’s great if you’re helping the team.”
